Since the end of 2004, Breguet has entered the mainland Chinese market. Finally in 2009, the brand opened its very first monobrand boutique, showcasing its history, modernity, technique and art of watchmaking right here in Hong Kong.
This boutique is located in 1881 Heritage on bustling Canton Road in Tsim Sha Tsui. The historic colonial building used to be the Marine Police Headquarters. It has been transformed into a unique shopping centre with a historic appeal. To the delight of shoppers, 1881 Heritage provides an interesting contrast with respect to all the ultra-modern malls in the Tsim Sha Tsui area.
The inspiration of the boutique design came from Breguet’s logo. One of the boutique’s focal points is the three-layered blue glass of the display windows manufactured in Switzerland. The first layer of glass is decorated with Breguet’s engine-turned guilloche pattern. The glass door of the boutique gives the retail space an ethereal glow of colours and lights. The shape of the egg-shaped ceiling and oval retail area was inspired by the Reine de Naples women’s collection. Sleek golden columns echoes the details of Breguet’s signature caseband fluting. The intricate design for the wooden floor was generated by computer, and then painstakingly assembled by hand to look like Breguet screws.
You will find all of Breguet’s signature and new collections at this 1881 Heritage boutique. To commemorate the boutique’s grand opening, one single limited edition ladies’ watch is on offer as the ultimate collector’s item. With a European touch, the watch design also incorporates the art of Ancient Greek cammea. To the delight of watch enthusiasts, this Breguet flagship boutique provides made-to-order services. An extraordinary example is displayed in store, where there is a model with double tourbillons. On closer examination, you will see that not only the double tourbillons work simultaneously in a simple movement, the back of the movement now becomes the watch’s dial. This is high watchmaking at its best at the house of Breguet.
