La Maison Bleue

An adults-only El Gouna mansion hotel with 13 ornate suites, Red Sea views, Mediterranean influences, antiques, and private-lagoon ease.

La Maison Bleue is not a hotel that believes in beige restraint. On Egypt’s Red Sea coast in El Gouna, the adults-only mansion is all colour, antiques, arches, chandeliers and Mediterranean influence, built for travellers who like their boutique stays with a little theatre in the hem.

The story is deliciously specific. La Maison Bleue was designed by antiques collector Amr Khalil and architect Olivier Sednaoui as a dock and guest house for developer Samih Sawiris, a place to host loved ones and encourage creativity. Today it offers 13 individually styled suites, many with balconies or terraces looking towards the Red Sea, desert or El Gouna’s coast.

It is a Mediterranean-inspired mansion, a cool oasis amid the scorched landscape. The interiors borrow broadly and joyfully: ornate columns, high ceilings, antique furniture, marble and colour, with enough decorative confidence to make minimalism look underdressed.

This is a stay for aesthetes, especially those who want the Red Sea without surrendering to the anonymous resort template. Mangroovy Beach, private-lagoon ease and landscaped gardens keep the setting relaxed; the interiors keep the eye busy.

Come prepared for detail. La Maison Bleue is not trying to disappear into the coast. It wants to host you beautifully, pour the light through coloured glass, and remind you that good taste can still have a sense of occasion.
