Orsonero is tiny, serious and quietly beloved, which is exactly how a Milan specialty coffee bar should be if it wants to survive its own hype. Founded by Canadian Brent Jopson and his Milan-born wife Giulia Gasperini, it brings a more international coffee language into a city that already has one of the world’s most confident espresso cultures.
The essentials are all here: the black-bear name, the husband-and-wife story, the small footprint and the local following. Orsonero is one of Milan’s defining third-wave addresses, a place where espresso stands comfortably beside pour-over and other slower brew methods.
That balance is the point. Orsonero does not reject the Italian bar ritual; it sharpens it, then makes space for the coffee-curious to sit a little longer. The room is minimal, warm with wood and light, and just compact enough to remind you that great coffee rarely requires a grand stage.
