The Lodge at Pebble Beach
The 1919 lodge on 17-Mile Drive that frames the 18th green of Pebble Beach Golf Links, a six-time U.S. Open course, with fireplace rooms, a 22,000 sq ft spa and the Stillwater and Tap Room restaurants.
A fire made room for The Lodge at Pebble Beach. An earlier log lodge opened on the site in 1909 and burned down in 1917. In 1919 Samuel F.B. Morse formed the Del Monte Properties Company, and the new Lodge and the golf links both opened that year, the course on 22 February. The Lodge is on 17-Mile Drive and frames the 18th green of Pebble Beach Golf Links.
Neither of the men who designed the links had laid out a course before. Jack Neville and Douglas Grant were amateur golfers. Their 18th is a par 5 of 541 yards. The par-3 5th came later, a Jack Nicklaus hole opened in 1998. Six U.S. Opens have been played here, with Gary Woodland winning in 2019, and in 2023 the course staged its first U.S. Women’s Open. Every February the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am comes back, as it has since 1947. The resort also runs Spyglass Hill, The Links at Spanish Bay, Del Monte and The Hay. The Hay was redesigned with Tiger Woods.
Every room has a gas fireplace. Ocean View rooms are 475 sq ft, and the Deluxe Ocean View rooms in the Sloat Building run to 640 sq ft. The Fairway One cottages overlook the first fairway. Dinner is at Stillwater, a California coastal room, or The Tap Room, the steakhouse. The Bench cooks over wood.
The Spa at Pebble Beach covers 22,000 sq ft, with 16 massage rooms, six facial rooms and an outdoor pool. Lodge guests can also use the private Beach & Tennis Club.
