Le Grand Restaurant & La Grande Terrasse

Le Grand Bellevue's principal dining room and summer terrace, set high in Gstaad, with the chandelier-and-linen formality of a chalet *grande dame* and a kitchen that will route a serious plant-forward menu on request.

Le Grand Restaurant is what happens when an alpine hotel decides not to apologise for its chandeliers. The dining room sits inside Le Grand Bellevue, one of Gstaad’s surviving grandes dames, and reads exactly as billed: high ceilings, ironed linen, formal service in white jackets, and tall windows that frame the Saanenland’s pastures and the peaks above Wispile. La Grande Terrasse softens the brief in summer, with the same kitchen and crisper service plated under the open sky for lunch.

This is hotel cooking in the considered Swiss tradition, not a destination plant-based room. The Bellevue’s dining programme is anchored by LEONARD’s for the more international main service, supported by The Lounge, The Bar and Le Petit Chalet, and the menu travels between modern French technique and the alpine larder. If you are eating plant-forward, the kitchen will route a proper menu around you, but only if you ask in advance. Call before you book and tell the maître d’ what you want; a half-day’s notice is the difference between a courteous side dish and a meal worth the dress code.

For Luxa Terra, this is the Gstaad lunch you make plans around when the snow is high or the gentian is out. Order the wine the sommelier suggests, take the terrace if the weather behaves, and let the room do what a chalet grande dame does well: turn a meal into an afternoon, and an afternoon into the reason you came up the mountain.
