Samses
Zurich's Samses now runs as a vegetarian and vegan catering company with a seasonal pop-up calendar, after starting life as a restaurant in 2004.
Samses began as a small Zurich restaurant founded by two siblings in 2004 and has since refocused as a vegetarian and vegan catering company serving Zurich and the wider German-speaking Switzerland. The daily dining room is gone; the cooking is not.
The catering side carries the same idea that built the original reputation: wholesome bowls, dinner plates with finesse, and a kitchen happier celebrating one good ingredient than overcomplicating five. Menus are built for private and corporate events, with sustainable, seasonal sourcing baked in.
Seasonal pop-ups keep the public side alive. A vegan fondue residency at Manessestrasse 132 runs the last weekend of December and the first two weekends of January, hosted alongside Restaurant Vereinigung, and earlier summer pop-up programmes have taken over Restaurant Bürgli.
Treat Samses as a calendar booking rather than a walk-in. Worth planning around if you are staging an event in Zurich, or chasing one of the city’s most considered plant-forward menus.
