Smyth Tribeca
A 14-storey boutique hotel at 85 West Broadway in Tribeca, with mid-century rooms behind floor-to-ceiling windows, a penthouse suite with an 800-square-foot terrace, and a supper club-style tavern.
Smyth Tribeca stands at 85 West Broadway, fourteen storeys of boutique hotel in Tribeca, one of the city’s first residential areas. The hotel leans into its setting: mid-century style rooms, floor-to-ceiling windows that put the cobbled streets at your feet, and a loft-like feel that suits the industrial-era buildings around it.
Rooms are done in neutral tones. A Deluxe Corner King measures 425 square feet, with corner windows, a marble bathroom with a rain shower and a separate soaking tub, Egyptian cotton sheets and MALIN+GOETZ bath products. The Smyth Terrace Suite on the ninth floor adds a 300-square-foot private terrace to 1,000 square feet inside, and the Penthouse Terrace Suite pairs 1,200 square feet with an 800-square-foot terrace, a dining table for eight and views of the Empire State Building.
Downstairs, Smyth Tavern is a tribute to New York’s supper clubs, hung with work from the Tribeca art scene. Expect deviled eggs with caviar, steak tartare, a raw bar and dry-aged steaks. The Galerie Bar hides off the lobby with leather sofas, two fireplaces and just 12 seats at the bar, and the Red Room, a private dining room with arched ceilings and its own fireplace, seats 70. Pets are welcome too, up to two per room.
Book Smyth Tribeca when you want to live downtown for a few days, close to Tribeca’s restaurants, the 9/11 Memorial and the Statue of Liberty ferry at Battery Park, without paying Fifth Avenue prices. Splurge on a terrace suite if the weather is kind.
