Unmeat
Zurich’s all-vegan burger name is currently signalling a comeback, after building a following for plant-based fast food.
Unmeat needs a careful current note. Luxa Terra’s source copy remembers it as a Zurich plant-based comfort-food stop, all burgers, nuggets, pretzel buns and vegan fast-food swagger. The current official website, however, says “we’re coming back,” which means this page should read as a watch-this-space listing rather than a confident “go tonight” recommendation.
The concept remains clear: Unmeat is 100% vegan and built around the pleasure of familiar fast food without animal ingredients. Local Zurich coverage traces the project from festival food to a Kreis 4 burger shop, with vegan cheeseburgers, nuggets, currywurst-style dishes and milkshakes part of the original appeal.
That is exactly the kind of place plant-forward city breaks need. Not every ethical meal has to arrive with tweezers and edible flowers. Sometimes the kindest thing a city can offer is a burger that understands sauce, salt and the importance of fries.
For now, treat Unmeat as a brand to verify before you set out. If the comeback lands, it will be worth revisiting with appetite intact. Until then, its page is best held with a raised eyebrow, not a reservation confirmation.
