Whole Earth
Singapore's plant-based Peranakan-Thai stalwart, Michelin Bib Gourmand recognised since 2016 and loved for generous classics.
Whole Earth is the rare vegetarian restaurant that has become part of Singapore’s mainstream dining map, not a side note to it. Founded in 2003, it describes itself as the first and only Peranakan-Thai vegetarian restaurant in Singapore, and its current site notes Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition since 2016. The Michelin Guide echoes the point, praising “vegetarian cuisine for non-vegetarians.”
That phrasing matters. Whole Earth is not trading on absence. It is building flavour through Peranakan herbs, Thai heat, mushrooms, soy-based ingredients and whole foods, with signatures such as Enchanted Forest, Penang Rendang, Sambal King, Olive Rice and XO Rice.
It is a local favourite as much as a tourist refuge, which is the better compliment. This is where plant-forward dining feels rooted in regional cooking rather than imported wellness language. Book a table on Peck Seah Street when you want Singapore’s spice, texture and generosity without meat taking the lead. It is bright, busy and deeply useful: proof that the most ethical order can still arrive sizzling.
