Mukwa River Lodge
An intimate Zambezi River lodge near Livingstone and Victoria Falls, with private decks, plunge pools and wildlife views.
Mukwa River Lodge understands the luxury of water in a safari landscape. Set on the Zambezi near Livingstone, it lets the river set the pace: elephants moving along the banks, sunset light, quiet decks, and the feeling that Victoria Falls is close enough to matter but not so close that it crowds the moment.
The lodge is a boutique, family-owned retreat on the banks of the Zambezi, around 15 minutes from Livingstone town and about 10 minutes onward to Victoria Falls. Accommodation includes river and island suites, with private decks or plunge pools, and views towards Zambezi National Park.
The lodge’s better details are practical as well as pretty: local produce in the food offering, small scale, wildlife visible from the property, and easy access to both the Zambian and Zimbabwean sides of the falls region.
This is not deep-bush deprivation dressed up in linen. It is more of a polished river retreat, good for travellers who want safari atmosphere, comfort and access in one composed package.
Spend one afternoon doing very little. The Zambezi has been working on its timing for rather longer than any itinerary.
