Mandarin Oriental Exceptional Homes adds 12 homes, 43 in total

Mandarin Oriental Exceptional Homes has added twelve private vacation properties across Italy, Spain and Thailand, lifting its curated collection to 43 homes in 18 destinations. The expansion concentrates on Tuscany, Sardinia, Puglia and Marbella, with one new estate in northern Thailand.

Seven of the additions are design-led villas in Marbella, which the group calls a key growth destination. Each property has been selected for its refined aesthetic and its expression of modern Andalusian living, with several set in La Zagaleta and Nueva Andalucía's Golf Valley.

Some of those Marbella villas hold frontline positions overlooking Las Brisas Golf Club. In Tuscany, Dimora Ghirlandaio is in the rolling hills of Impruneta, pairing original pietra serena and terracotta interiors with panoramic views across Florence's skyline and the Chianti hills.

Il Cellese completes the Tuscan group, a home within a private Chianti estate that blends traditional stone architecture with vineyard views and understated Italian elegance. In Sardinia, the collection gains Villa Ada and Villa Marzia, rare beachfront properties with direct coastal access.

The two Sardinian villas deliver uninterrupted sea views on an island the brand frames as one of the Mediterranean's most sought-after. Further south, Puglia receives two restored trulli, Trullo delle Dame and Trullo dei Pumi, each updated to honour regional architecture while adding contemporary comfort.

In Asia, Tatvani in Chiang Rai introduces an entirely private estate within northern Thailand's lush landscapes. A collection of teak-crafted villas is immersed in rice fields and mountain scenery, offering a retreat built around nature, cultural immersion and complete seclusion.

Philip Leighton, Head of Mandarin Oriental Exceptional Homes, said the portfolio's evolution keeps a focus on purposeful growth: introducing new destinations that broaden global reach while preserving the intimacy, discretion and exceptional service guests expect.

Every home is individually and privately owned and has been selected for location, design and its capacity to deliver Mandarin Oriental's service. That includes a dedicated concierge to curate tailored itineraries, a private chef service for bespoke menus, daily housekeeping and what the brand calls luxurious amenities.

The brand frames the additions as a milestone in the collection's evolution and part of an ambitious growth plan, one that continues to widen geographic reach while holding to an uncompromising approach to quality and service for what it describes as today's discerning traveller.

How the new homes are spread

Italy carries the largest single share of the twelve, with the collection deepening in Tuscany, Sardinia and Puglia rather than opening a new region. The announcement's title also names Croatia and Greece, but the properties detailed are in Italy, Spain and Thailand only.

The concentration around Marbella is telling. Seven homes in one destination suggests the group sees the Costa del Sol as a place where Mandarin Oriental's service model and the demand for private, serviced villas meet, particularly around the golf estates of Nueva Andalucía.

Mandarin Oriental Exceptional Homes operates within the wider Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, the luxury operator whose hotels include Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, where we have covered both the property and its spa. The homes collection extends the group's service model into private, individually owned residences.

The Brickell Key project is the clearest marker of that residential direction. We reported on Mandarin Oriental's Miami ground breaking, which followed $1.7bn in residence sales and signalled a serious push into branded private living beyond the hotels themselves.

In our guides to the best spas in London and in Paris, Mandarin Oriental features among the grand-hotel standard-setters, with private suites in the French capital. This homes expansion applies the same service language to standalone villas rather than to hotel rooms.

Why individual ownership matters

Each home is privately owned, and Mandarin Oriental curates and services the properties rather than holding them. That structure lets the collection add homes across sought-after destinations without the capital burden of buying, though the sources do not spell out the arrangement.

Concierge, chef, housekeeping and amenities travel with the name, so a restored trullo in Puglia and a teak villa in Chiang Rai both carry the same promise of Mandarin Oriental service.

Leighton closes by framing this next phase as reflecting both the strength of the collection and the group's ambition for continued expansion. No opening dates or prices for the new homes have been published, and the terms on which owners join the collection have not been disclosed.
