Raffles Singapore
Restored all-suite Singapore landmark with courtyards, butler service, heritage bars, celebrated dining and the original Singapore Sling.
Raffles Singapore is one of those hotels that has become shorthand for the city itself. After a major restoration, the all-suite landmark reopened in 2019 with 115 suites, refreshed courtyards, restaurants, boutiques and social spaces. It is an institution: spacious, airy and green in a city that is rarely short of density.
The hotel is also unusually good at ritual. Long Bar remains tied to the Singapore Sling, created here in the early 20th century by bartender Ngiam Tong Boon. Afternoon tea, butler service, grand corridors and palm-filled courtyards all carry a sense of occasion, but the best moments are often quieter: stepping from North Bridge Road into a pocket of shade, or crossing the courtyard when the city heat drops a notch.
Raffles Singapore is not the newest luxury address in town, nor does it need to be. Its strength is continuity with a very expensive renovation budget. Come for heritage, stay for the scale, and forgive yourself one Singapore Sling. Some cliches are cliches because they work.
