The Omnia

A contemporary Zermatt mountain lodge perched above the village, with vegetarian-led dining, Aesop spa rituals and Matterhorn poise.

The Omnia sits 45 metres above Zermatt on its own rock, which is a neat architectural way of saying: leave the everyday world downstairs. Rather than the heavy chalet nostalgia one might expect in the Alps, this is a contemporary mountain lodge of clean lines, warm timber, low-slung calm and carefully framed views.

Expect minimalist rooms, stacked logs, an extensive spa and vegetarian barbecue. The wellness centre is reserved for hotel guests and uses Aesop and Farfalla products, while the culinary programme under head chef André Kneubühler is built around seasonal Alpine produce with a vegetarian concept that can be complemented by fish or meat.

That detail matters. The Omnia’s luxury is not about excess; it is about precision, quiet and the confidence to make vegetables the starting point rather than the concession. Rooms and suites range from doubles to the Roof Suite, with Zermatt and the Matterhorn doing the scenic heavy lifting outside. For ski days, spa days or simply watching clouds move across the peaks, it is a grown-up Alpine bolt-hole: polished, purposeful and very good at keeping its voice down.
