Hotel de la Ville

A Rocco Forte hotel in an 18th-century palazzo at the top of the Spanish Steps, with Fulvio Pierangelini's rooftop Cielo, a courtyard restaurant and an underground spa.

The Cielo Bar at Hotel de la Ville takes no reservations. From the top floor it looks across St Peter’s dome, the Pincio and the gardens of Villa Medici above the terracotta rooftops. Beside it, Fulvio Pierangelini cooks Mediterranean dishes and seafood at Cielo for lunch and dinner. He is also the chef at Hotel de Russie, the sister hotel at the bottom of the Pincian Hill.

Hotel de la Ville is an 18th-century palazzo on Via Sistina, at the top of the Spanish Steps, run by Rocco Forte Hotels. Lower down, Mosaico serves breakfast in the courtyard and its dining room, and Café Ginori runs all day with the porcelain house Ginori 1735. In the evening, Julep pours herbal cocktails and vermouth under Simone Di Serio, the hotel’s director of mixology.

Rooms start with the 28 sq m Superior Room. Family rooms and suites run from 56 to 106 sq m, and several suites come with terraces. The Canova Suite is named for the Neoclassical sculptor Antonio Canova. The Suite de la Ville has a terrace and 103 sq m, and the six-bedroom Panoramic Penthouse spreads 358 sq m across the seventh and eighth floors, with terraces framing the Spanish Steps.

The Irene Forte Spa is underground. Its five treatment rooms include a double suite with a private rasul, and there is a full-body cryo chamber and a thermal area with a salt room, sauna, steam room, ice fountain, Kneipp foot baths and a hydro pool. The gym is equipped by Technogym.
