Hotel Miramar Barcelona
A five-star Gran Lujo hotel on Montjuïc, in a palace built for the 1929 International Exposition, with Forestier gardens, sea views, a Natura Bissé spa and One Michelin Key.
Hotel Miramar Barcelona has had three lives on Montjuïc. Ramón Raventós designed it as a palace for the 1929 International Exposition, with gardens by Jean-Claude Nicolas Forestier. Televisión Española later used it for its Catalonia studios. In the early 2000s Òscar Tusquets reworked it as a hotel, keeping the historic facade and building in terraces.
Jaime Beriestain has since renovated the interiors, and the hotel holds One Michelin Key. Rooms face the gardens, the sea or the city, and not every room has a sea view. Executive rooms are 27 m² over the garden. Deluxe rooms are 35 m², and the Superior Suites add a terrace with sunbeds. Higher up the list, the Grand Suites have two or three bedrooms and terraces of up to 85 m², and the Presidential Suite is 138 m² with a 47 m² terrace.
Studio Miramar serves Mediterranean food with views over the Forestier gardens, the city and the sea. For a drink, La Terraza is the panoramic bar, and there is also a Champagne Bar. Martina’s Pool Bar opens in summer.
Spa Alterego uses Natura Bissé, with single and double cabins (one has a private jacuzzi) and an indoor heated thermal zone with a hydrotherapy circuit, sauna and hammam. Guests get free access with any treatment, or pay €35. The outdoor pool, with sun loungers and Balinese beds, opens in the summer months, and the gym runs around the clock. The concierge can arrange private sailing, helicopter flights and runs on Montjuïc.
