La Réserve

A discreet 40-room Paris palace near the Champs-Elysées, with Jacques Garcia interiors, Nescens spa, pool, and Le Gabriel dining.

La Réserve Paris understands discretion as a luxury material. Set at 42 Avenue Gabriel, close to the Champs-Elysées, Avenue Montaigne and Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, the hotel looks across some of the city’s headline views while keeping the mood closer to private mansion than grand lobby performance.

There are 40 rooms with Jacques Garcia’s romantic interiors, a 16-metre indoor pool, hammam, fitness area, Nescens spa and Le Gabriel, the three-Michelin-starred restaurant led by Jérôme Banctel. The texture is taffeta, velvet, silk, a library, courtyard, smoking room and the feeling of a former hôtel particulier that never became too public for its own good.

This is Paris for travellers who do not need Paris shouted at them. The location is central enough for fashion, museums, palace hotels and serious shopping; the rooms are intimate enough to make returning feel like slipping behind a well-cut curtain. Garcia’s design is not shy, but it is controlled: jewel tones, polish, and a faint sense that someone important may have just left the room.

For Luxa Terra, the appeal is the edit. La Réserve is sumptuous without becoming shouty, service-rich without feeling like theatre, and close to the city’s grand gestures while remaining, very deliberately, reserved.
