Delta unveils redesigned Delta One, rolling out across its network in 2027
Premium ticket revenue edged past main-cabin revenue in the third quarter, $6.82 billion against $6.80 billion, as Delta backs the change with a $1 billion fleet programme.
Delta Air Lines has formally announced its most extensive Delta One overhaul in close to thirty years, covering dining, drinks, hospitality and sleep. The revamp debuts this autumn on transoceanic departures from Los Angeles, then expands through the airline's global network in early 2027.
The work forms part of a fleet modernisation programme worth more than $1 billion. That spending delivers next-generation Delta One suites on incoming Airbus A350s, along with redesigned interiors on older A330 aircraft, plus an expanding network of lounges and other premium ground services.
What is on the new menu
The new culinary programme favours elevated versions of familiar dishes over increasingly elaborate ones. Chef partners Simon Hulstone, Norio Ueno and Jereme Leung have built a menu around a Wagyu beef burger, roasted sea bass, braised lamb, beef short rib and a seasonal risotto.
The scale behind the cooking is considerable. Delta produces eight million Delta One meals a year across fifty international kitchens, and the new menu draws on more than 700 ingredients. New tableware, freshly cracked pepper, tableside sauces and an upgraded dessert cart change how those dishes reach the seat.
Drinks get an equivalent push. Delta says it is the first airline to pour Blanton's Single Barrel Bourbon, arriving on 1 December 2026, while Dassai 45 sake lands on Tokyo Haneda routes from 3 November. A Champagne sorbet float pairs dairy-free sorbet with an optional Taittinger pour.
The redesigned wine list, built with Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson, carries thirteen selections from eleven wineries, chosen after evaluating more than 1,600 wines. Champagne Taittinger extends to domestic Delta One flights, and Hugo Spritz and Paloma cocktails and mocktails follow in 2027.
Passengers also gain control over how their flight unfolds. Entrées can now be preselected up to eighteen hours before departure, six hours earlier than before, with more gluten-free and lighter options. Those prioritising sleep may skip the full breakfast for coffee and a croissant before landing.
A new "sip and settle" service pairs a hot towel, warm nuts and a chosen drink without interrupting passengers unnecessarily. The airline says the thinking came from customer insights and the expertise of hundreds of its people, tested through more than 200 flight attendants and employees over fourteen months.
How Delta tested and staged it
That testing ran across 36 dedicated trial flights and more than 200 individual submissions, shaping over sixty tableware pieces and adjustments to meal presentation and cabin service. Delta will phase the new experience in through 2027 rather than switching everything at once, letting crews adapt.
Ranjan Goswami, Delta's chief marketing and product officer, frames the programme around deliberate investment. "Our reimagined experience is rooted in solving real customer needs and desires, with intentionality behind every detail. Every investment we make is deliberate and designed to deliver the industry's most premium end-to-end travel experience."
The partnership with Italian fashion house Missoni is also being refreshed. New Winter Elsewhere amenity kits arrive on 3 November with Grown Alchemist skincare and Marvis dental products, while a smaller Missoni Mini pillow will gradually replace the existing cuddle pillow across transoceanic routes. Bombas socks return on selected flights.
The timing aligns with the arrival of Delta's flagship A350-1000 in early 2027. Its Delta One suites feature lie-flat beds more than three inches longer than current versions, 24-inch screens, wireless charging and better storage. The programme took over 35,000 engineering hours across more than fifty suppliers in fifteen countries.
Older A330-200s and A330-300s gain suites with privacy doors as Delta chases its target of 90% enclosed Delta One seats by 2030. The airline already runs dedicated Delta One Lounges at Los Angeles, New York JFK, Boston Logan and Seattle-Tacoma, with nearly 1,300 aircraft carrying Delta Sync WiFi.
On the ground, the Porsche transfer partnership grows from 40 to 70 hybrid vehicles across fifteen airports and hubs by 2028, though passengers must book VIP Select to ride. When we covered the airline's plans, Delta was closing in on a nonstop Singapore route, its first since 2019.
The financial case is strengthening. Third-quarter 2026 figures show premium ticket revenue reached $6.82 billion, edging past main-cabin revenue of $6.80 billion. Premium revenue rose 18% year over year against 12% for the main cabin, continuing a multiyear shift toward higher-value travel.
The contest is not Delta's alone. American Airlines and United Airlines are both introducing their own upgraded premium cabins, and Delta is wagering that hospitality and service will matter as much as the hardware itself. Consistency across thousands of international flights remains the harder test.
Delta's new Basic Business fares separate the onboard luxury from certain ground perks, so a passenger in a Delta One seat does not automatically receive every lounge or transfer benefit that comes with a full fare.
