Raffles The Red Sea opens 168 keys on Saudi Arabia's Shura Island
Villas run from one to four bedrooms, and a Singaporean restaurant sits beside a hammam and a vitality pool.
Raffles The Red Sea has opened on Saudi Arabia's Shura Island, the regenerative tourism developer Red Sea Global announced. The resort is the arrival of the Raffles name at The Red Sea destination, adding a globally recognised brand to a growing portfolio of hotels along the coast.
The property comprises 168 keys in total: 121 rooms, 14 suites and 33 private villas. Every room is designed to look across the lagoon or the Red Sea itself, pairing contemporary interiors with the brand's signature service and its attention to detail.
Raed Albasseet framed the opening as a significant milestone in the evolution of the destination. He said Raffles' heritage of distinguished service and elegance strengthens the breadth and quality of the hospitality offering on Shura Island, while the developer stays focused on regenerative development.
The 33 villas make up Raffles Residences The Red Sea, a limited set of one- to four-bedroom homes placed in the natural landscape of the Red Sea. Foster + Partners led the architecture, while ACPV ARCHITECTS Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel designed the interiors.
Each residence embraces its island setting with a private pool, spacious indoor and outdoor living areas, and views over either the lagoon or the open sea. The villas are a separate, quieter offering from the rooms and suites, and the collection is limited by design.
Five venues and a wellness sanctuary
Dining spans five venues. Ni'ma serves Eastern Mediterranean cuisine, while Siparaja offers a Singaporean dining experience inspired by Peranakan heritage, a nod to the city where the Raffles name began. Anbara pairs French patisserie craft with Arabian notes.
El Nay offers Pan-Arabic bites and refreshments by the sea, and The Pool Bar & Grill provides relaxed dining alongside the water. Between them the five venues cover Levantine, Singaporean, French-influenced and poolside cooking without leaving the island.
The spa and wellness sanctuary has seven indoor treatment rooms, a vitality pool and a hammam, plus separate women's beauty stations and men's grooming stations. An outdoor lap pool completes it, and the whole space is designed as a restorative escape.
On Shura Island the resort is close to the marina and retail area and to the Shura Links golf course. Red Sea International Airport is a short drive away, and Botanica Red Sea and ADRENA, a sports and adventure district, are reachable within the wider destination.
What this adds to our Raffles coverage
In our guide to Singapore's best hotels, we found that Raffles sets the grande-dame tone for the city, alongside Marina Bay Sands spectacle and Sentosa resort ease. The Red Sea resort takes that heritage name to an island lagoon.
In Paris we covered Le Royal Monceau, Raffles Paris, an art-led palace near the Arc de Triomphe with Matsuhisa, Il Carpaccio, a private cinema and a 1,500-square-metre spa. The Red Sea spa is smaller in scale, with seven indoor treatment rooms.
We have also profiled Raffles Dubai, a pyramid-shaped hotel beside Wafi in central Dubai with spacious balcony rooms, gardens, a spa and international dining. Shura Island offers a different Raffles: low-rise island living with private-pool villas rather than a city landmark.
Guests are already being welcomed at resorts under the InterContinental, SLS, The EDITION, Four Seasons and Miraval names. Red Sea Global says five additional resorts are set to open in the coming months as it expands its hospitality portfolio.
The developer describes its aim as advancing a commitment to regenerative tourism and creating long-term value for people and the planet. It has not stated in this announcement what measures apply at Raffles itself, or what rates guests will pay.
