Sativa Cafe
A mostly vegan I-tal cafe now listed near Jambiani, serving bowls, smoothies, juices, dhal, guacamole and relaxed southeast-coast Zanzibar energy.
Sativa Cafe has moved in the real world, so the old Paje shorthand needs a small update. Current HappyCow information says the cafe relocated from Paje in 2024 and now sits on the outskirts of Jambiani, still on Zanzibar’s southeast coast.
The spirit, happily, appears intact. The source copy gives us breakfast bowls in coconut shells, homemade granola, chia seeds, sweet potato salad, hummus, cashews, lime, herbs and signature guacamole nachos. HappyCow describes a vegetarian, mostly vegan I-tal cafe with bowls, pumpkin soup, hummus, dhal samosa with coconut chutney, smoothies and fresh juices, plus reggae nights.
It is not a marble-counter vegan concept. It is looser, sunnier, more beach-road than brand deck. That is precisely the charm. After salt water, scooter dust or a yoga class, Sativa Cafe offers the kind of food that restores colour to the day: fruit, spice, coconut, herbs and enough plant-based options to remove the usual travel negotiations.
Check the latest location before you go, especially if your map still points to Paje. Once found, order something in a bowl and let the tempo drop. Zanzibar does not reward rushing, and neither does lunch.
