Hotel Regina Louvre
A family-run 1900 hotel on Place des Pyramides, facing the Tuileries and across the street from the Louvre, with 98 rooms including 32 suites, Eiffel Tower views from its Eiffel Tower Suites and the oak-panelled Bar Anglais.
The Louvre is across the street. Step out of Hotel Regina Louvre’s arcades on Place des Pyramides and the Tuileries open up beside it.
The Regina opened in 1900, just in time for the Universal Exhibition, and the same family has run it ever since. The company behind it commissioned the architect Armand Sibien to transform an apartment building it had just bought, and Constant Baverez and his partner brought in some of the most talented artists and cabinet-makers of the period. The arcaded facades stayed. They once housed the riding academy of Antoine de Pluvinel, principal equerry to Henri III and Henri IV.
History keeps turning up in the details. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies was founded in the hotel’s salons in 1919, and a marble plaque on the facade still says so. When the roof renovation of the early 2000s grew into a full restoration, the family kept every original decorative feature. The old lift, with its paned glass and carved wooden mouldings, now stays put as a souvenir. A renovation completed in 2015 earned the hotel its fifth star.
The hotel has 98 rooms including 32 suites. The 27 m² Prestige Louvre rooms look straight at the museum and come with a bathtub, while the 30 m² Prestige rooms over the inner courtyard are decorated in shades of marron glacé, beige and pink. The suites run from Junior and Family to Prestige, Parisian and the Eiffel Tower Suites, named for their view of the tower. The hotel lists the Tuileries, the Musée d’Orsay, Les Invalides and the glass roof of the Grand Palais among its views. Light sleepers can ask for one of the rooms over the quiet, flowered courtyard instead.
Chez Suzy serves the great classics of the French regions in a Belle Époque room, in homage to grandma’s cooking. When the sun is out, the garden courtyard opens up under parasols. The Bar Anglais is all warm oak panelling and velvet sofas in the spirit of Victorian England, and on Fridays it pours three Scotch whiskies followed by a cocktail made with your favourite. Room service runs around the clock.
The one thing the Regina does not do is a big spa. Its wellness area, open since June 2018, covers just over 70 m² with a hammam, a sauna and a Technogym gym, all in natural light. If a pool matters to you, the family’s other hotel, the Majestic Hotel-Spa, has one.
Small pets are welcome for a nightly surcharge, and in 2026 the hotel received the Green Key label for its work on water, energy and waste.
Stay at the Regina for the address and the century of family history behind it. It is one of the newest entries on our list of the best luxury hotels in Paris.
